As stewards of God’s resources, we believe in treating our supporters as partners, friends and team members. We carefully and ethically handle the gifts entrusted to us by maintaining appropriate systems of accountability and maximize their intended use.

Where Your Donation Goes

1) Donations sent specifically to support a missionary:
These funds are channeled to the specified missionary. The total support of a missionary is apportioned for different purposes including net field allowance (‘take home pay), retirement fund, rental, insurance (accident, medical & surgical, medical emergency evacuation), passages (travel), children’s education, special provision (such as retreat cost) and support for the mission agency.

2) Love gifts sent to SIM office:
All this money would go to meet the administrative needs of the office or any other ministry that is in grave need of financial support as determined by the Director.

3) Honorarium given to SIM speakers:
Usually the money will be channeled to SIM EA as an administration gift or allocated to the ministry fund of the missionary for his or her ministry use.

4) Money to support a project:
The total amount less 10% will be channeled to the project. It is SIM policy that the receiving office takes 10% to help with office administration.

5) Donations sent without specified use:
We request donors to designate the gift. If it is not designated, the Director will designate how the money will be allocated according to current needs. Use of donations to meet office operation expenses office operation and administration is essential in providing back-up service, member-care and other related mission support. The expenses of office operation can be broadly classified into two categories: manpower cost and administration, and promotion and development.

About 55% of all the expenses are met through the generous donations of supporters and churches. The remaining 45% is contributed by missionaries as part of their support for SIM.

Manpower cost: Around 40% of our “staff” is fully or partially supported missionary home staff. These are mainly the senior “staff” of SIM EA. They serve sacrificially with “below-market” allowance or support. The others are employed by SIM EA. They also serve sacrificially and regard their service as a ministry, hence willing to accept lower than market rate salary. Thus we do wish to encourage donors to designate gifts for general administration which includes support of office staff.

Administration , promotion & development cost: We try to keep the admin, promotion and development cost as low as possible by utilising staff in multiple duties and finding the most economical way to print and post our publications to supporters.
